Natalie Khawam is a former federal prosecutor and the whistleblower attorney at the Niya Law firm. This law firm, Niya Law, is a small firm located in the New Zealand city of Auckland, New Zealand. Natalie was a former Federal prosecutor that was investigating child abuse within the Nauru immigration detention centre. When the abuse became too much for Natalie to deal with, she went to the Australian Federal Police to report the abuse but did not have much luck with them.
Natalie was a very good FBI investigator and did some fantastic investigations. However, her investigation ended up being useless because she did not know the laws that pertain to the protection of whistleblowers in the workplace. She was also not allowed to speak to the employees in the detention centre about her findings, as the Nauruan government had its own agenda in mind and the employees were afraid. Her investigations were eventually leaked to the media and she received death threats from the Nauru government.
Natalie did everything that a whistleblower should do to expose a wrong doing by the employer. She notified the employer about the mistreatment and the illegal practices he was practicing and gave a detailed report to the company. The employer did nothing and continued the practices of the illegal practice.
After being threatened by the employees of the facility, Natalie filed a complaint in the Federal Court Judge that had ruled in the favor of the employer. She tried to appeal this decision however, it was declined by the Federal Court Judge. Natalie was unable to collect any fees from the Nauruan government because the workers at the Nauru detention centre filed a case against the Nauruan government. Natalie then took the Nauruan Government to the International Tribunal for Justice of the World and they lost the case because the judge stated that he does not know the laws that pertain to the protection of a whistle blower.
In an attempt to protect more employees from having to go through the same thing, the Nauruan government started sending illegal aliens to the Nauru detention center and many of them are being abused there. Natalie then brought this case to the International Tribunal for Justice of the World to help her team to fight for the rights of the Nauruan employees. to file a lawsuit against the Nauruan government, so that they can get justice for the abuse they suffered.
Natalie Khaem was fired from her position at Niya Law. Because Niya Law has been involved in the Nauru immigration scandal, Natalie Khaem's previous clients have also asked her not to represent them anymore because they were scared of what she will do to them. because of the scandal that occurred in the Nauru detention centre. Natalie is the most vocal, whistle blower attorney that is currently representing the Nauruan employees who were abused and mistreated by the Nauruan immigration staff.
